We are winding down now three weeks after the end of UBF 2019 - just paperwork for funders to finish...
The winner of the pair of weekend tickets has been notified and needless to say, there was great delight.
Thank you to all who came and became part of UBF. It was a pleasure to welcome you, especially if you were a first-timer. It was a treat to see so many familiar faces back with us.

A breather now for us for a few weeks then it all starts again. But we love doing what we do so it’s no hardship.
But before 2020 UBF some of us will be going to our Scottish twin’s festival in November - the wonderful Cove and Kilcreggan Book Festival held in Cove Burgh Hall on the Roseneath Peninsula. A gorgeous setting with great writers, friendly volunteers - and the soups and cakes are more than not bad! The dates are Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. It would be lovely to see some of you there.
And don’t forget to get your Ullapool accommodation booked for 2020 - festival dates are 8-10 May.

Have a lovely summer!
Ullapool Book Festival Team

Unfortunately Volker is unable to join us from Germany due to illness. We wish him a good recovery. Refunds will be given to those who had booked tickets. If you bought a ticket from either bookshop please take it there for a refund. If you bought through PayPal we will refund you through that. Please allow a couple of days for this to happen as it is a laborious process going through every purchase made to see who has bought a Volker ticket!

We are delighted to announce that Raja Shehadeh will be our new opening author – 0n Friday 10 May at 10am in Ullapool Village Hall. We are so grateful to him for agreeing to step in at such short notice. Raja is a great friend of the festival and has appeared at UBF before.  Raja Shehadeh is a Palestinian writer and lawyer and is a founder of the human rights organisation Al-Haq. He is author of several books including Occupation Diaries, Travels with My Ottoman Uncle and Palestinian Walks: Notes on a Vanishing Landscape for which he was awarded the Orwell Prize for political writing in 2008.

Tickets will be on sale after 3pm tomorrow afternoon at both bookshops in Ullapool (blank tickets have to handwritten tomorrow morning!). These are in-person only sales so please don't phone them asking for them to be put aside. Arrangements for buying tickets from away will be posted tomorrow.

Any ticket bought from the website from now until they go off website sale on Thursday will be held for collection from the wee ticket tent outside the village hall that opens at 9am on Friday morning. It’s not that we don’t trust the postal service to get them to you on time.

Melanie Reid; Sally Magnusson; Michael Pedersen, Hollie McNish and Withered Hand.
Unfortunately Daniel Maudlin has had to withdraw from the festival. The session on Saturday morning at 10am will still go ahead with Andy Drummond.
Fifteen years and still going strong! Hopefully, this is the moment you have been waiting for.
